Kaizer Chiefs have faced uncertainty amongst the sticks following twenty-five years of Itumeleng Khune stability.
According to reports, AmaKhosi are eyeing Malian international Djigui Diarra to fill the club legend’s void.
Between Mali’s top division and Tanzania’s, where he currently plays for Young Africans, the 30-year-old has won eight league titles, showcasing that Diarra knows what it takes to go all the way.
Rumours confirmed
“We believe that the club is still working on finding the right goalkeeper and that’s why they are still looking at all the different profiles of different goalkeepers,” Soccer Ladumareported.
“Yes, Kaizer Chiefs have apparently shown interest in Toaster Nsabata and Xolani Ngcobo but they have not finalised next season’s signings yet and now they have inquired about Djigui (Diarra) from Yanga SC.
“It’s a process from both the scouting department to the technical team and management before they sign. But, yes, they have inquired about that Yanga goalkeeper.”
Kaizer Chiefs next test
Kaizer Chiefs return to Nedbank Cup action tonight when they take on Stellenbosch FC at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
It’s been a tumultuous time for the boys from Soweto, recently loosing back-to-back games before beating Magesi 1-0 on Tuesday. The Glamour Boys sit eighth on the log, three points behind tonight’s opponents, who have begun to find their form following weeks of poor results.
The Soweto giants next league outing is against Cape Town City, who beat them in early January, before facing Richards Bay and Golden Arrows.
