- Edward Zuma told MK members in a WhatsApp group that Shivhambu is working for ANC leaders to collapse the party.
- He says Shivhambu’s visit to Bushiri in Malawi is the final straw and demands his immediate removal.
Edward Zuma, the eldest son of former president Jacob Zuma, is in the middle of a battle within the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) — pushing hard to have Secretary General Floyd Shivhambu removed.
Several sources told Scrolla.Africa that Edward is accusing Shivhambu of being an “ANC rascal” sent to get the MKP deregistered by the IEC.
“He is using the same tactics he used against the late minister Pravin Gordhan — including creating powerful WhatsApp groups to campaign against him,” a source said.
“This time, he’s in MKP WhatsApp groups spreading claims that Shivhambu was sent by Dr Zweli Mkhize and Gwede Mantashe to destroy the party. He says Shivhambu loves money more than the MKP.”
Scrolla.Africa has seen leaked WhatsApp messages where Edward tells MKP members to beware of Shivhambu and calls for his removal. In one message, he wrote:
“Floyd should be removed or demoted. The plan here is to get the MKP deregistered by the IEC… that’s why Floyd is there — to bring down the MKP.”
He also slammed Shivhambu for attending fugitive pastor Shepherd Bushiri’s Easter service in Malawi.
“Bushiri is a criminal, period. Anyone who surrounds themselves with a criminal is also a criminal. MKP is clean — we can’t have ANC-type problems,” he wrote.
In another message, he warned: “This Shivhambu Malawi visit is wrong and will cost MKP dearly.”
Scrolla.Africa confirmed that the WhatsApp number used in the messages belongs to Edward Zuma.
Edward’s online attack comes shortly after his sister, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, also clashed with Shivhambu and later apologised for insulting him.
When Scrolla.Africa contacted Edward for comment, and he denied the claims and said, “Look, I’m not even a member of the MKP. I’m ANC in good standing. Go ask MKP people about their problems, not me.”
