  • MK Party MP Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has apologised after attacking party boss Floyd Shivambu on social media.
  • The public fight showed cracks in the MK Party between old members and newcomers who joined after the elections.

After days of drama, MK Party MP Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has finally said sorry to party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu for attacking him on X.

Zuma-Sambudla, who is former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter, first tried to apologise to everyone except Shivambu. She even said sorry to her father but left out the man she had insulted online.

The fight started when she posted messages on X saying Shivambu wasn’t doing his job properly. She kept these posts up even after her first attempt to say sorry.

Old MK members who used their own money to campaign before the elections say they’re being pushed aside for new members who joined later.

In her second attempt at making peace, Zuma-Sambudla directed her apology to everyone, including Shivambu.

The latest second apology seems to have been triggered by widespread comments and reactions that the initial apology was not rendered to Shovsmv

“I sincerely apologise for my recent public posts on X, which have caused offence, division and disruption within uMkhonto weSizwe and beyond,” she said.

“It was never my intention to undermine the principles of unity, respect and discipline that are the foundation of our movement.”

She admitted she broke party rules and promised to do better.

“I deeply regret any harm they may have caused and take full responsibility for my statements. I commit to upholding the values and integrity of uMkhonto weSizwe moving forward,” she said.

She also apologised to Parliament and the Pan-African Parliament, where she serves.

“I remain committed to working towards unity, progress and the total liberation of our people,” she said, adding that she would learn from this mistake.
