Zimbabwean socialite Passion Java mocks Geza’s protest

Zimbabwean socialite and self-proclaimed prophet Passion Java, a strong supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has mocked the March 31 nationwide protest led by activist Blessed Geza.

In a video filmed on the day of the protests, Java ridiculed Geza, suggesting the demonstration was merely an early April Fools’ prank.

The Nationwide Shutdown Protest

The protest saw many Zimbabweans stay home from work in defiance of economic hardships and governance issues. It was widely observed, with reports indicating that businesses in several areas remained closed.

However, Java, known for his flamboyant personality and controversial statements, took to social media during the protests to ridicule Geza’s role in the demonstration. In his video, Java claimed Geza had “hidden in a shell” while others protested. He went further, suggesting that Geza was fooling people, saying the activist had staged the demonstration as an early April Fools’ prank ahead of April 1.

Java stated that after analysing Comrade Bombshell’s issue, he believed Geza was trying to highlight that 1 April is April Fools’ Day but forgot to clarify that he was joking.

In a particularly pointed jab, Java appeared alongside his dogs and named one after Geza’s nickname, “Bombshell.” This move has sparked mixed reactions, with some laughing at the mockery while others criticized Java for downplaying a serious political event.

Here are the social media reactions:

Tinomuda Machona:“Haha, Java always brings the humor! Geza had it coming. This protest was never going anywhere.”

RutendoMoyo: “I love how Java doesn’t hold back. Geza was tryna make us believe in something that was never going to happen…Mashura

Memory Mbewe: “Java is right, Geza really didn’t show up. Why pretend it’s a protest if the leader isn’t even leading?”

Reactions from Geza’s Supporters

Geza has not directly responded to Java’s remarks, but his supporters have defended him, arguing that the protest was a bold statement against economic hardships in the country.

Jah Vybz Tutiz:”U are just a useless boy why do u find joy in the misery of ur ow n suffering country man the most high is watching u”

Mbulelo: “This is not funny, Java. People are suffering, and you’re making a mockery of their pain.”

Tawanda53: “This isn’t the time for jokes. Geza may not have been in the streets, but the protest still showed that people are frustrated with the government.”
