Zimbabwean adventurers Thandolwenkosi Tshuma and Vusumuzi Mkandhla have embarked on the second season of their awe-inspiring cycling journey across Africa. The couple resumed their expedition on 7 January 2025, after taking a well-deserved rest in Kenya following the conclusion of their first season on 9 November 2024 in Nairobi.
This year’s journey will see the couple pedal through six countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The ambitious journey is expected to culminate in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, in April, where friends, family, and supporters eagerly await their return.
Speaking to The South African, Thandolwenkosi shared her love for Kenya, where they spent their break. She said she also had time to nurse her injured ankle. “Kenya is beautiful, and we enjoyed every moment,” she said, reflecting on their time in the vibrant East African nation.
“We would like to thank our Host James, Cynthia and Kevin for hosting us for two months , they gave us food and took care of us. They are the founders of Lifesong KENYA , focusing on helping a boy child to be a better man tomorrow…. Thank you so much, may God bless you all,” Thandolwenkosi posted on Facebook.
The Zimbabwean Adventurers’ Dream to Inspire Africa
Last year, the Zim adventurers embarked on the adventure of a lifetime, cycling across Africa to inspire fellow Africans. The journey began in Soweto, South Africa, in April 2024, and spanned an impressive 9,300 kilometers across 11 countries. Along the way, the couple’s determination and passion captivated supporters from all walks of life.
A joyous celebration marked their arrival in Nairobi last November. Not only did it signify the successful completion of their first leg, but it also coincided with Thandolwenkosi’s birthday. Surrounded by new friends and supporters, the occasion was a testament to the bonds they have built throughout their travels.
Season Two: New Challenges and Opportunities
Season two promises to be equally challenging and rewarding as the couple ventures through diverse terrains and cultures. From the bustling streets of Nairobi to the serene shores of Lake Malawi, the journey will undoubtedly test their endurance while providing a platform to share their message of resilience and unity.
By the time they reach Bulawayo, the couple will have cycled thousands of kilometers, further cementing their status as trailblazers in African adventure travel.
