A South African Xhosa man, Laizo Hangana, has shared his harrowing journey from a life of crime to redemption, in the hopes of inspiring the youth to make better choices.

He, who was once part of a group of criminals known as “igintsa,” regrets the path he took and the company he kept.

Laizo’s group would engage in illicit activities, amassing wealth that they would spend on luxurious clothing, family needs, and alcohol. However, their extravagant lifestyle was built on the suffering of their victims. His narrative serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of such a lifestyle.

Things took a drastic turn for the worse when he was arrested and imprisoned. During his incarceration, he lost a significant amount of weight, and his so-called friends abandoned him. He credits his faith for getting him through this challenging period, stating, “God will always show up.”

Now in a better place, he hopes his story will inspire South African youth to make positive choices. He expressed a desire for his video to trend, reaching young people who might be tempted by a life of crime. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of positive influences and the consequences of one’s actions.
