Why Oswin Appollis is moving to Soweto this January

The bookies believe Oswin Appollis will be in Soweto at the end of January.

If it weren’t for the mystery disappearance of Polokwane City’s chairman, Johnny Mogaladi, during the offseason, he would have arrived months ago.

Kaizer Chiefs had agreed on terms with Appollis, who was set on heading to Soweto, but an absent Mogaladi meant they couldn’t get a deal over the line.

Staying or going?

Polokwane’s reluctance to let star players leave is obvious; right-back Thabang Matuludi is another member wanted by both of the Soweto giants but conveniently stayed.

January, however, will be a testing month for Polokwane City management, who will struggle to hang onto Appollis and Matuludi.

The 23-year-old Bafana winger is ready to leave and will likely push for a transfer this January, with Orlando Pirates favourites to land the PSL sensation.

Polokwane coach Phuti Mohafe is delighted to still have his two star’s, saying, “I’m more than happy to still have them in the team because they are the core, and they are the most important players for us, even though those guys are touting for them”.

“So I think it’s a blessing in disguise for Polokwane City to still have them. And as for how long they are going to be with us, that one, I don’t know. That one, I don’t know, but I just so wish that they can still be with us for another season.”

Enjoy them while you can, Mohafe; these may be your last moments together
