Scotts Maphuma takes a selfie with an excited fan

Scotts Maphuma, once criticized for his perceived arrogance, has gone viral for taking a selfie with a fan.

The Amapiano star, who previously stirred controversy for refusing to take pictures with supporters, now seems to be embracing the love from the people who helped fuel his rise to fame.

A now-viral photo of Scotts smiling beside an excited fan has made rounds online, sparking hilarious reactions and playful celebration from social media users.

One user on X (formerly Twitter), @Nomagugu_xo, shared the image with the caption, “If ‘simlungisile siyi country’ was a person,” loosely meaning, “As a country, we’ve fixed him.”

The reaction comes after Scotts previously made headlines for a blunt take on fan interactions during an appearance on the L-Tido Podcast.

At the time, he unapologetically said, “No one forced me to be a celebrity. I make music for the people. If I don’t feel like taking a picture, then I don’t feel like it. I don’t owe it to anyone. No one got me to where I am, and no one can take anything away from me except God.”

Those remarks didn’t sit well with many, who saw them as a sign of inflated ego.

But now, it seems the tide is turning, and fans are taking the credit for his apparent change of heart.

Online reactions to the viral selfie were full of humor and satisfaction.

“Lol hahaa that aged really well, I can’t believe Scotts Maphuma is this humble these days,” one user commented.

Another joked, “Pride does not benefit anybody. Look at him now, humble more than ever.”

Others remained cautiously optimistic. “Barely, he’s still arrogant though, but at least he’s making an effort to change,” a fan wrote, while another simply said, “I really love my country, they always make sure they take credit for everything!”
