Kaizer Chiefs host Chippa Unitedin the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 on Saturday evening at the FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi are favourites to win the clash but Chilli Boys‘ coach Thabo September believes if his side can make use of their opportunities, they might eliminate the Glamour Boys.
Chiefs have not tasted silverware in 10 years and the Nedbank Cup offers the club the last chance to end the season with something to show. The Betway Premiership is out of reach with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates battling it out.
Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United clash once again
“It’s a cup game and it’s a once-off match, so you need to approach it with the right mentality to make sure that you play well. Give your all in that 90 minutes and make sure we capitalise on the opportunities that we create,” September said during pre-match interview.
“We also have to be stubborn and selfish in terms of conceding goals, so we have a good plan on what we need to do. Playing against a big team like Chiefs is a great opportunity for these players to showcase their talent.”
Chippa United will be without Sirgio Kammies for the Kaizer Chiefs match but September is confident with his squad.
“The rest of the team looks good. So, we have a good pool that we can select from against Chiefs and we just need to go out there and show the good talent that we have,” he added.
“Express ourselves well and besides the tactics, we need to come out of a shell and play our football and make sure we do the things that we need to do right and players playing on their strengths.”
Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United’s match will kick off at 18:00. The winner of the match will progess into the last eight of the Nedbank Cup.
