Excitement is in the air as Olympic gold medalist Wayde van Niekerk and his wife Chesney have welcomed a new addition to their family.
In a post shared on Instagram, the mother of two revealed the birth of their newborn son along with the caption: “Hello world! Baby Eziah.”
The couple first revealed the news of their second pregnancy while posing for a picture at a wedding in December 2024. At the time, Wade was dressed in a black suit, while Chesney wore a beautiful, laced gown, showing off the silhouette of her baby bump.
Since then, the loving pair have been working tirelessly to begin preparations to welcome their new family member.
A video shared on the social media platform shows Wade and his eldest son Elijah, assembling a car seat to ensure that the new baby would be locked and safe during his first ride home.
The birth of Eziah comes just four years after that of their first-born, Elijah, who was born in November 2021. At the time, the couple lived in the United States, where the 400m record holder spent much of his time training to be the best he could be to compete on the global stage at the Tokyo Olympics.
While their family has grown, so has Wayde’s role as a father and husband. When he is not practising to compete at a big tournament, he can be seen spending quality time with his family.
