Wandile Duba return date revealed?

Kaizer Chiefs fans will be eager to see Wandile Duba back in action as they’re short of goal-scorers. When is the 20-year-old returning?

Duba is the real deal

When he scored a screamer to open his account for the club as a teenager against Golden Arrows, we knew that something special was brewing. Fast-forward to 2024-2025 and Duba scored a brace to help Chiefs to a 2-1 win over Stellenbosch in a recent match. Chiefs have prepared a new contract for the impressive youngster and it’s easy to see why. His versatility as a wide attacker or an option through the middle makes him a key component of Nabi’s rebuild. Unfortunately, he was struck down by a long-term injury just before the Soweto Derby two weeks ago. On the plus side, he could be back in training in a month.

When could Duba return for Kaizer Chiefs?

According to Soccer-Laduma, 20-year-old Wandile Duba’s injury sustained against Free Agents FC would keep him out of action for six weeks. In theory, he could return in mid-March. He’ll be tentatively eyeing out a trip to Richards Bay on 16 March as a potential return date.

“He (Duba) went for scanning yesterday and that’s when they (Chiefs doctors) were sure that he would be out for about a month and a half. He will actually be out for 42 days. It’s a knee injury. He twisted it and got injured. Very bad, my brother, but 42 days is not that bad though.” said a source.

Midfield schemer Yusuf Maart will miss Chiefs’ Round of 16 clash with Chippa with a suspension. He’s picked up four accumulated yellow cards this season. Njabulo Blom could come into the side after being named on the substitutes’ bench in the team’s 1-0 success away at Stellenbosch. Meanwhile, new signing Thabo Cele should retain his place. Angolan central defender Inacio Miguel should skipper the side in Maart’s absence. Playmaker Mduduzi Shabalala will almost certainly start too after being a substitute against Stellies.
