Jean-Claude Van Damme’s team has denied allegations linking the actor to a Romanian sex trafficking case that is ongoing. The criminal complaint filed with Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), accuses the 64-year-old actor of taking part in sexual relations with five women who were allegedly victims of sex trafficking.

Criminal Complaint Filed Against Van Damme

According to People, the claims were initially reported by CNNaffiliate Antena 3 on 1 April. Based on that report, the women involved were allegedly in a “state of vulnerability” and it is possible they were taken advantage of according to Article 182 of the Romanian Criminal Code. It is alleged that the incident occurred during a Cannes event that Van Damme reportedly organised, and that is where the women were allegedly offered to him.

Victim’s Attorney’s Statement

The attorney representing one of the victims, Adrian Cuculis, explained the situation to Antena 3. He revealed that the women were Romanian photography models that were taken to Van Damme by people currently under investigation for forming a criminal group for pimping. Cuculis also claimed that Van Damme was aware of the women’s condition and situation but still received them as a “gift.” An unnamed female witness allegedly saw the exchange and reported it to authorities.

Van Damme’s Team Rejects Allegations of sex trafficking

In response to the claims, Patrick Goavec, Van Damme’s attorney, issued a statement to People on 9 April 2025, where he referred to the allegations as “grotesque and non-existent” and strongly denied any wrongdoing. “Mr Van Damme does not wish to comment or fuel this rumour, which is as absurd as it is unfounded,” Goavec added.

The actorhas yet to make a personal public statement regarding the matter.

For now, DIICOT is still investigating. Romanian authorities are continuing to probe the allegations. More details are yet to be revealed to the public.

Do you think Van Damme should personally respond since he is facing serious sex trafficking accusations that involve vulnerable groups?
