Josh Sullivan – the US pastor who was kidnapped and released by four gunmen in Gqerberha – has broken his silence.
The US missionary and his family have been living in South Africa since 2018 after establishing a church in the Eastern Cape.
US PASTOR JOSH SULLIVAN SPEAKS AFTER ORDEAL
In a Facebook post, Josh Sullivan broke his silence about his kidnapping experience.
The US pastor shared: “I want to begin by thanking God for delivering me from what was undoubtedly the worst experience of my life. I also want to thank him for delivering me from my sin 28 years ago when I accepted Jesus Christ. Because of my personal relationship with Jesus, He gave me the peace I needed to get through”.
Josh Sullivan thanked the public for their prayers, which he believes resulted in the “miracle” of his rescue.
He also thanked the South African police, the FBI, and other law enforcement authorities for their rescue mission.
He added: “As we begin the difficult process of healing and moving forward, we kindly ask for privacy. I have a miraculous story to share, and I look forward to telling it when the time is right”.
KIDNAPPING AND RELEASE
Less than a week after his kidnapping in church mid-sermon, Josh Sullivan was rescued by police from a KwaMagxaki property in Nelson Mandela Bay.
On Tuesday, 15 April, the dramatic “high stakes” rescue saw police shoot and kill three suspects who held the US pastor for ransom.
According to Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Avele Fumba, a special task team acted on verified intelligence about the missing man’s whereabouts.
Fumba claimed that the suspects had attempted to flee the scene and had opened fire on police.
“The officers responded with tactical precision, leading to a high-intensity shoot-out in which three unidentified suspects were fatally wounded.”
Josh Sullivan was found “miraculously unharmed” in the house and was treated by medical personnel.
