Orlando Pirates must fend off Monaco SC and Standard Liege to keep talisman Monnapule Saleng.
The 26-year-old has been prolific since joining the Sea Robbers in 2021, scoring twenty-seven goals and assisting nineteen in sixty-nine games at the club.
He’s been so good that several European clubs have been monitoring the playmaker, who could move once the 2024/25 season concludes.
“It’s Standard Liege that have shown interest. Actually, last season, they were also interested in Mohau Nkota while Monaco SC were interested in Saleng. So, now it is believed that the Standard Liege scouts are looking at Saleng since Nkota has not been playing much since his promotion”, a source confirmed.
Mofokeng on the move?
Another star among the Orlando Pirates ranks is 20-year-old starlet Relehobile Mofokeng, who is fast becoming a household name, scoring the final goal against Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 Cup six weeks ago.
The skilful winger has Glasgow Rangers and RB Leipzig interested and, like Saleng, could move after the campaign.
Mofokeng’s old coach and mentor, Mandla Qhogi, who believes now is his time make the move. “For me, it will be a good time for him to go overseas,” he explained to SoccerLaduma.
“It is the right time and there are things that he would learn if he were to move now at this stage of his career. The more we keep him this side it could mean that we are delaying him. He is 20, and I think it is the right time for him to move if he has to be sold overseas.”
