Thembinkosi Lorch’s Kaizer Chiefs dream delayed but not denied?

Kaizer Chiefs almost shocked the football fraternity with their pursuit of Mamelodi Sundownsattacker Thembinkosi Lorchin the previous window.

It’s believed Chiefs were working hard behind the scenes to sign Lorch but eventually couldn’t reach an agreement with Sundowns.

Chiefs wanted to bring Lorch for his experience

This because the club management are big fans of the former Orlando Pirates’ man’s abilities. They also want to have him in the squad so he can help nurture young attackers like Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakaziand Wandile Duba. But until now, nothing has been agreed by the two parties. But in the end the deal did not materialise due to Sundowns being reluctant to strengthen a rival in Chiefs.

Had this move materialised, however, this would’ve seen Lorch finally realise the dreams of two people. One, his father, Teboho Mokoena, a huge Chiefs fan. Two, his own dream after his father influenced him to support Amakhosi. This publication reported over a year ago quotes from the player speaking on the matter.

Amakhosi dream delayed but not denied?

“It is not like my dad wanted me to sign for Chiefs because the truth of the matter is that Chiefs just didn’t want me at that moment. My dad is a Chiefs fan just like I also supported Chiefs growing up, so he had a dream that I get to play for Chiefs.” Said Lorchat the time while still a Pirates player.

The deal taking Lorch to Chiefs can’t happen now after the closure of the window. But that doesn’t mean his Amakhosi dream will be shut down forever. His best bet of a way out of Sundowns at the moment is Wydad Casablanca. This publication reported that the Red Castle are interested in signing him on loan. This an interest driven by his former coach and close friend Rulani Mokwena.

Wydad the next step?

Should he spend the rest of the season with Wydad, and impress he could earn a long-term deal. But should he not impress, even Sundowns might end up cutting their losses and terminating his deal. That then, would open up the avenue for Chiefs to pounce on Lorch as a free agent!
