The PSL is gearing up for an exciting end to the season.

Mamelodi Sundowns are in the driver’s seat for the title after beating Orlando Pirates 4-1, but a shock defeat to TS Galaxy afterwards showed theirs still hope.

Masandawana are eying their eighth successive league title.

PSL rumours

  • With no contract extension to speak of, Sundowns legend Themba Zwane is likely to become a free agent after this season. Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring the situation.
  • Orlando Pirates rejected a R26 million bid from Zamalek for starboy Relebohile Mofokeng. The 20-year-old is linked with several giants of the game, such as Al Ahly and Barcelona.
  • AmaKhosi reportedly tabled an offer of around R10 million for PSL shot-stopper Stanley Nwabili in January. They are likely to try again in the offseason.
  • The future surrounding Monnapule Saleng remains ominous, and no precise return date is in sight. The 26-year-old could leave once the season concludes.

More on Zwane interest

Few players have more PSL experience than Sundowns icon Zwane, who Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring vigilantly:

“Kaizer Chiefs could be watching the situation of a Mamelodi Sundowns star with an interested eye,” KickOff reported.

“This as has been the Soweto giants’ tradition with out-of-contract players at Chloorkop in recent years. Even though Chiefs appeared not to have planned it, it came as no surprise when they signed Gaston Sirino. This after his contract lapsed at Sundowns at the end of June 2024.

“Amakhosi may also not be able to resist the temptation of having the opportunity to sign Themba Zwane, whose contract is left with only five months. With Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos still rating the 35-year-old, it would not be a shock for Chiefs to lure the Tembisa-born man to Naturena.

“He would be following in the footsteps of the likes of Josta Dladla, Katlego Mphela, Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, and recently Sirino, who all joined Chiefs from Sundowns as free agents.”
