The popular eighth season of Uthando Nesthembu has officially come to an end, and fans have to lament as the entirety of the season brought about the peak of mzansi reality TV, and kept viewers glued to their screens every Wednesday and Thursday as they eagerly kept up with the country’s unofficial Kardashians.

Uthando Nesthembu has been hailed as arguably one of South Africa’s biggest and most popular reality TV shows, as each episode of the latest season brought unprecedented levels of drama and chaos, ensuring that viewers returned each week for more. Despite its popularity, some loyal fans of the show have revealed that they believe that it might be time for the franchise to officially wrap up, as the show has exposed the family to an irreparable level of toxicity that does not need to be among the prying eyes of the public.

As the season has come to an end, viewers cannot help but wonder how the story of each wife will unfold, and what the next season will look like should they opt to return.

MaKhumalo

The latest episode left viewers feeling extremely sorry for MaKhumalo, as they believe that Musa has been extremely toxic towards her, despite her remaining blindly loyal to him, even when everyone else had turned against him. According to these fans, Musa’s utterances about Thobile, or MaKhumalo, where he stated that her providing so much financial assistance to the family was a way to fill the void of not being able to have children, was out of line, and reveals that Musa will never see her as an adequate wife.

This has caused users to question and doubt whether she will remain in her marriage with the polygamist, as they cite the unusual attitude and demeanour she displayed throughout the season.

MaYeni

Despite being among the least popular wives due to her highly confrontational and stubborn nature, MaYeni has emerged as a fan favourite this season, as viewers resonated with her nonchalant attitude, as well as her determination to return the favour and treat Musa the way he treats her and everyone else, which has caused visible stress to the businessman.

Among other things, she popularised the term ‘Oshabeni’, which has come to mean a state of undisturbable peace, which was the theme for MaYeni throughout this eighth season. Viewers are unsure of her fate in the Mseleku marriage, as they have voiced that they believe she is fed up with her husband’s antics and toxicity, but they are not sure whether she is angry enough to leave yet.

MaNgwabe

This season, MaNgwabe emerged as one of the more controversial figures this season, as viewers called out her for constantly stating that she is leaving or planning to leave Mthombeni over the past few seasons, and has failed to follow through on her threats. However, these users have recently hailed for finally standing up to Sne, who has proven to be a problem child who not only needs to be disciplined, but also taken to receive professional help, as they believe she has been through significant trauma that is getting in the way of her building healthy relationships with her family.

MaNgwabe’s fate in the Mseleku family is also uncertain, but users believe that she might finally act on her previous threats, particularly now that Mseleku is acting on plans to get each wife their own house outside of the Mzumbe homestead.

MaCele

In a surprising turn of events, the matriarch of the polygamous marriage, MaCele, has turned to Musa’s ultimate support system, as she has stuck by him and supported him throughout the course of the season, even when the rest of the wives were expressing frustration and calling their husband out. This came as a surprise to many, as this role was previously reserved for MaKhumalo, who exuded a different energy this season, as per the show’s fans.

Interestingly, some viewers have found interest in the matriarch’s positive relationship she has established with the latest Mseleku wife, MaKhwela, and compared to the one she had with Thobile. These users believe that their MaCele and MaKhwela’s relationship will suffer the same fate as the one with MaKhumalo, as they believe that MaCele’s allegiance is a strategic one, that will eventually run its course.
