And then there were eight! Starting from a total of 16 teams, the Nedbank Cup is in its more thrilling phase as the quarterfinal matchups are revealed. Who will win it all?
The Nedbank Cup can be best described as mzansi’s own version of the coveted FA Cup, it comprises eight teams from the first division league, and eight teams from the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) regional leagues. The tournament has adopted a range of different formats, however, the main goal has remained to give more exposure to the teams who form part of the lower-ranked leagues and allow them to compete against players from the top teams in the premier league.
After coming out on top in a thrilling 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates enter as the reigning champions looking to defend their title. They will be facing Supersport United, while their rivals Kaizer Chiefs look to knockout Stellenbosch FC. Masandawana will match up against either Royal AM, Milford FC or Sekhukhune FC, while Durban City is set to face off againts Marumo Gallants FC, making for an exciting build-up to the semi’s and the ultimate final matchup.

Supporters have expressed a great interest in how the Royal AM debacle is set to unfold as it has been reported that the South African Revenue Services (SARS) is set to sell the club to the owner’s (Shauwn Mkhize) failire to pay taxes as required. Of all the big teams, it appears that Kaizer Chiefs has been given the tougher challenge as they are set to face a strong Stellenbosch side thatis ready to prove themselves as notable contenders in the game.
@KaizerChiefs should’ve got Marumo gallants or Durban city. Stellenbosch is not an easy team to beat 😭😭😭
