The countdown to the highly anticipated Metro FM Music Awards is well underway, and the recent Nominees Announcement ceremony is a testament to that. We’re here to give you a rundown on everything that took place at the event.
Hosted by popular entertainment figure Loot Love, the Metro FM Music Awards will be returning for the 19th edition, cementing its place as one of the longest running award ceremonies. The coveted ceremony will be returning to Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga, where it was successfully hosted in 2024 by Loot Love and Pro Verb.
Building anticipation and excitement for the awards, Metro FM hosted a Nominees Announcement ceremony where contenders from various categories for the big day were revealed. This was a star-studded affair as some of mzansi’s most exciting names in the entertainment industry were in attendance. The event was hosted by Siphesihle Vazi, alongside Zola Myeza and saw the likes of Oscar Mbo, our ambassador and Miss SA Mia Le Roux, Langa Mavuso and Teko Modise who were definitely dressed to impress.
The night was an eventful one, filled with many exciting moments, from the red carpet looks, to the nominee announcements as well as the entertaining performances from the likes of Usimamane and Nkosazana Daughter for attendees to enjoy.
The main purpose of the event was to reveal which artists are up for which nominations and categories, and the results were a bit surprising for social media users. Some notable categories include Song of the Year, where the likes of Wishi Wishi, Kwelanga 2.0, Biri Marung, Funk 99, Yebo Lapho, Skuta Baba Remix and many more were selected as contenders.
Some of these songs managed to secure nominations in multiple categories, including Best Amapiano Song, Best Music Video and Best Viral Challenge.

Artists such as DBN Gogo, MaWhoo, Oscar Mbo, Focalistic and Morda will be going head to head in the Best Styled Artist category, which is set to be an exciting one.
On the other hand, some users are scratching their heads, trying to figure out how Pretoria’s Loatinover Pound’s singles or Pray 4 Pitori album did not score a nomination, after dominating the charts and leading streaming numbers.
