Umkhokha: The Curseactress Deli Malinga is asking for sponsorship to attend an award show in Kenya.
DELI MALINGA: ‘WHAT AN HONOUR’
The Umkhokha: The Curseactress Deli Malinga took to her Facebook account to reveal that she’s seeking sponsorship.
“What an honor being nominated for African Female Actor of the year (not just South African but African. I just see God in all of this. To all of you out there who appreciated my work from day one supported me throughout my acting journey.”
Malinga adds that she’s representing her hometown, Umlazi in Durban, Umkhokha: The Curse production and producers, Mzansi channel and South Africa as a whole.
“The sad part, to participate will be fully on me. Wish I could get sponsors going to Kenya.”
The former Generationsactress recently won Best Actress at the Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and Television Award for herrole as Mamzobe.
Speaking to Sowetan, the actress says she’s over the moon and the award is a validation for her craft.
“I’m so over the moon. Being recognised is the best feeling one could ever have. This award is validation for my craft, considering how I started. It was not easy to get here but it gives me such pride to be known and labelled as the best in my community,” she said.
Malinga adds that she challenged herself with the role of MaMzobe. She had to convince herself that she could play a villain and never thought her character would last this long or even scoop an award.
She previously won a SAFTA as the Best Supporting Actress in a telenovela award for her role as MaNgema in Redemption.
‘UMKHOKHA: THE CURSE’ ENDS
The Rhythm World telenovela, Umkhokha: The Curse ended on 28 February 28 after a two-year run.
The faith-based seriesfirst aired its episode in October 2021 as Umkhokhaand returned in March 2023 as a telenovela titled Umkhokha: The Curse.
It also stars actors Sibongile Ngubane as Difa, Nay Maps as Sphamandla, Hope Mbhele as Mabusi and many more.
South Africans thanked the cast and production crew of the Mzansi Magic show on social media for a great telenovela.
