Richards Bay FC head coach Brandon Truter has spoken of the things that are beyond his control as the teamcontinues to struggle, particularly their goal-scoring issues.
The Natal Rich Boyz recently suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup, a result that eliminated them from the competition. Magesi will now face Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
Richards Bay have endured a difficult recent run, failing to win within 90 minutes in their previous five matches across all competitions.
Moreover, they have scored a mere two goals in their past ten games.
When asked about how he plans to address these challenges, Truter emphasised that certain qualities, such as motivation and drive, must come naturally from the players and cannot be solely instilled by a coach.

“That’s the problem, because when you look at the coach to motivate you, then you have nothing, nothing to think about,” said Truter.
“Because I can teach you football, I can teach you everything but when you look at these ingredients – the war, the determination, the motivation, the drive, it’s inside and that I can’t coach.
“With some players, I don’t mean my boys but I’m talking general, it’s okay to lose. I’m not talking about Richards Bay.
“Once you look for a coach to say, do that, do this, let’s motivate, let’s go. Then you’re in the wrong sport, you’re in the sport to win all the time.
“Also in the game, you find coaches on the touchline screaming, going. And the moment the coach is quiet on the day, can you play without him?
“That’s the question we need to ask. If you can’t transfer training to the game, then you have the problem and the level is too high for you.”
