Two-time Rugby World Cup winning Springbok RG Snyman celebrates his 30th birthday on Wednesday, 29 January.

Snyman, who currently plays his club rugby for Leinsterin Ireland, is widely known as ‘The Viking’ among fans and team-mates in reference to his appearance.

He previously represented the Bulls, Honda Heat (Japan) and Munster in Ireland.

Snyman has scored two tries in his 40 Tests to date – against Italy during the 2019 World Cup and four years later during the 2023 tournament against England.

He has been on the winning side in 29 of his Tests, lost 10 and was involved in onedraw for a win percentage of 72.5%.

Meanwhile, other Springboks born on this day were Charlie Brown (Springbok #74, died in 1944 aged 66), Jannie Barnard (Springbok #399, died in 1985 aged 40) and Willem Stapelberg (Springbok #482) who turns 78 today.
