South American versatile defender offered to Amakhosi

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly been offered South American defender Marcelo Suarez.

The club has brought in four defenders this season but despite that, they conceded almost every match. The likes of Rushwin Dortley and Miguel Inacio have looked good at times but a lack of quality wingbacks and goalkeeper has seen the Glamour Boys ship in 16 goals in the league.

According to Soccer Laduma, the 23-year-old can slot it at left-back which has been an area that needs improvement. Kaizer Chiefs have brought in defender Bradley Cross in that position however the young left-back has not looked convincing in his first season.

“Marcelo Suarez is from Bolivia, and he plays as a defender and is versatile as he can play in the different positions at the back,” a source told the publication. “He can play as a left-footed centre-back and as a left-back. He plays for a club called Always Ready in Bolivia, but he is open to a move to the PSL. There are plans to offer him to Chiefs and that’s what his handlers are working on. He plays Copa America football and for the national team.”

Kaizer Chiefs could bring in Copa America defender

Amakhosi have two South Americans in Gaston Sirino and Edson Castillo. Suarez might be keen to join the Soweto giants knowing that there are a few players from his continent.

Kaizer Chiefs can use a versatile defender and with Miguel’s record, Nasreddine Nabi will need to sign a top player who will play cover when he is unavailable.
