PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing Stellenbosch enforcer Sihle Nduli.
It’s been a season to remember for the defensive midfielder, who has been one of the lead protagonists for Steve Barker’s side in their fight for a successive third-place finish. So far so good for the Cape Winelands outfit, who currently occupy the bronze medal position, putting them in good stead for African soccer next season.
The top three is where eighth-placed Kaizer Chiefs want to be, and they feel Nduli would be a positive acquisition to making that happen. Then there’s the added bonus of the 29-year-old’s contract expiring in June, meaning there is a chance he arrives on a free transfer.
“What we know and believe is that Sihle’s contract is coming to an end in June and there is nothing yet from Stellenbosch FC concerning his contract and this would give Kaizer Chiefs the chance to sign him as a free agent,” another source revealed.
Stellenbosch are reportedly – and justifiably – keen on keeping him, insinuating that getting a deal over the line will be no easy feat for the former PSL champions.
Nabi in the hot seat
Kaizer Chiefs held an emergency meeting with head coach Nasreddine Nabi following their shock PSL defeat to Richards Bay. According to reports, some of AmaKhosi’s high-profile figures are growing impatient with the Tunisian boss.
“It’s getting hard and tougher for the management team now,” SoccerLadumareported
“It’s believed that they thought by now the results would have started to show as the coach came with high expectations, but things are not working according to plan,
“Apparently, that’s what is not making them happy. They don’t just want the team to play well. No. They want results and so far they [Kaizer Chiefs] have lost to the all so-called big teams,
“That’s the other reason why management is not happy so as they feel they have given him enough time to show what he can do for the team. They think and believe that they have a great squad which can easily compete and be up there among Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates,
“Because they are failing to do that, it’s why management is dissatisfied and unhappy with the results and the coach right now.”
