SHOWMAX DUMPS DONELL MBELE FROM SHOWMAX SHOW BORN TO FAME
He was released on R1000 bail and his court case was postponed to 10 February for further investigations.
His arrest came after his underage girlfriend allegedly pressed rape charges against him. Against his woes, reports have it that the fast-rising star has been removed from one of his shows.
Popular blog MDN News also confirmed the news of his removal from the show.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the celebrity blog posted, “Showmax drops Donell Mbele from reality show amid rape allegations.
“Donell Mbele has been removed from the reality show Born to Fame by Showmax following serious allegations against him.
The blog shared more details about his charges as they confirmed the news of his exit from the show.
However, MDN Newsadded, “Mbele is currently facing two counts of rape related to an incident that allegedly took place at his home last year involving his girlfriend.
“In response, Showmax decided to cut ties with him, stating they did not want to be associated with someone facing such grave accusations or be perceived as supporting wrongdoing.”
He joins a host of celebrities who have been relieved from their shows or gigs. Amid their alleged rape case, DJ Fresh and Euphonik were put on special leave before they were let go by Radio 947.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, Donell Mbele is accused of raping his 17-year-old girlfriend on two occasions last month.
The girl, whose name has been kept from the media because she is a minor, is said to be from Eswatini.
MAKING HEADLINES
Ahead of Donell Mbele’s first court sitting, she reportedly shared some of her chats with Mbele. The alleged chat reveals how the incident seemingly happened.
However, this is not the first time she has made headlines for the wrong reasons. In 2022, his then-girlfriend, Reokeditswe Makete, accused him of wanting to “kill” and “rape” her.
Makete failed to attend court sittings, leaving the court with no option but to struct the matter off the roll.
