Shakira sends love to fans after hospital stay

Global superstar Shakira thanked her fans for their overwhelming support after she suffered an abdominal issue and went to the hospital.

The hospital visit led to the cancellation of her highly anticipated concert in Lima, Peru.

SHAKIRA HOSPITALISED

The Hips Don’t Liesinger, 48, shared her gratitude via social media, reassuring fans that their love messages have given her strength.

“Thank you all for your loving messages,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter). “You give me so much strength!! I love you with all my heart”.

The Colombian singer was rushed to the emergency room on Saturday night after experiencing severe abdominal pain, according to Marca.

Doctors advised her that she was not in good enough condition to perform at the Estadio Nacional in Lima. The show was part of her Women Don’t Cry Anymore 2025 World Tour.

SHAKIRA POSTPONES HER SHOW

“I am sorry to inform you all that I had to go to the ER last night for an abdominal issue and am currently staying in the hospital.”

Shakira shared the message on her Instagram Stories.

“The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening”.

Shakira expressed her disappointment at having to let her Peruvian fans down.

“I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru,” she said.

SHAKIRA’S RESILIENCE

Despite the setback, Shakira remains optimistic, according to ABC.

She stated, “I hope to recover and leave the hospital tomorrow so I can perform,” adding that her team is already rescheduling the concert.

The singer’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is her first in seven years. It kicked off recently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

THE GRAMMY AWARDS

The tour promotes her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which was released in March 2024. The album even went on to receive a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.

In her acceptance speech, Shakira dedicated the award to her “immigrant brothers and sisters”. She added, “You are loved, you are worth it, and I will always fight with you”.

Shakira’s tour includes stops in Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, and the United States, before wrapping up in San Francisco on 30 June, according to The Standard.

THE ALBUM

Shakira described Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran as an album that “gathers many different life experiences. It gathers the transformation of vulnerability into resilience, the empowerment of finding your strength”.

She added, “It doesn’t only talk about pain; it also talks about triumph.

“That’s why I am not crying out of resentment, anger, or just sadness, but out of triumph, self-recognition, and newfound confidence.”

As Shakira recovers, her fans in South Africa and around the world send their well wishes, eagerly awaiting her return to the stage.
