Just as fans were putting on their detective hats, trying to figure out what is going on with the Scorpion Kings, the popular duo announced an upcoming project set to drop this August, laying any break-up rumours to rest.
Both Kabza de Small and Maphorisa have been in South Africa’s music industry longer than they have been in the spotlight; their longevity can be attributed to their versatility and natural flair for music, which allows them to create new sounds and put their own spin on the ones that already exist. Currently, they boast being at the top of the game as the unofficial kings of amapiano, due to their continued success in the genre.
As a duo, the Scorpion Kings were created at a time when both Kabza and Maphorisa were making major waves in the industry, taking their popularity and clout to unprecedented levels. Their debut EP, Pianohub, made an impact that can still be felt presently and has been dubbed one of the greatest contributions to amapiano.
Recently, the standing and status of the duo were under question, as fans had noticed that they had stopped following each other on Instagram. This had led fans to believe that the duo, as we know them, are no more, with much speculation regarding the cause of the split. That is until the duo took to their social media, via a joint post, to announce that the reign of the Scorpion Kings was far from over, and that fans have an exciting project to look forward to this coming August.
As expected, this announcement has caused quite a stir, with fans expressing excitement about the announcement. These users are relieved to see and hear that one of mzansi’s most popular duos is still together and going strong, and also express excitement to listen to what they have been working on.
