Royal AM owner MaMkhize’s court case against the South African Revenue Service (SARS) was reportedly struck off the roll earlier this week.
MAMKHIZE’S CASE AGAINST SARS DISMISSED
Rumour mill has it that the club tried to use player-owner Andile Mpisane to wave off SARS, which is now in control of the club through curatorship. Reports have it that liquidation is also now in the picture.
SABCSports has since confirmed the news. Reports have it that the club went to court to oppose the curator running the team, which was implicated in MaMkhize’s tax woes earlier this year.
The case was dismissed, leaving the taxman controlling the club’s administration.
According to reports, “The club’s argument is that Andile is not the subject of any tax investigation, so the club should be immune from the dispute Sars has with MaMkhize.”
Two years ago, reports emerged that MaMkhize had an R12.7 million debt. However, the debt ballooned to over R37 million after the club was ordered to pay Samir Nurkovic’s contract in full.
R40 MILLION DEBT
MaMkhize reportedly owes SARS over R40 million. Last year, she made headlines when her R20 million La Lucia Mansion was raided.
The taxman revealed that the raid was part of its ‘effort to combat tax evasion and criminal activities that undermine the country’s economy.’
However, her woes have since taken a toll on Roya AM. Last year, it was confirmed that the club was put under a curator as MaMkhize’s woes worsened.
MaMkhize issued a statement sharing more details about the situation at Royal AM. This came after it was reported that the club failed to pay its players and staff.
Part of her shared press release reads, “The club’s management team, led by our CEO and General Manager, has been working diligently with the curator to secure the necessary permissions to release funds for salary payments.
“It has always been the ethos of Royal AM to prioritise the well-being of our personnel, and we remain dedicated to upholding that principle despite the current challenges.”
MAKING HEADLINES
This week, MaMkhize made headlines again after she missed her second deadline to submit tax-related documents to SARS.
Rumour mill has it that SARS requested tax-related documents from the multimillionaire, but she allegedly failed to submit them.
COULD THIS BE THE FALL OF MAMKHIZE’S ROYAL AM?
