After a three-year musical pause, global superstar Rihanna returns with fresh sounds. The singer, who fans know for her chart-topping hits, is releasing a brand-new track titled Friend of Mine.
The song is already creating a buzz, thanks to its feature in the trailer for the upcoming Smurfs movie.

Rihanna lends her voice to the character Smurfette in the film, adding a unique charm to the animated adventure.
The trailer shows Rihanna in the studio, smiling and adjusting her headphones as she records the song. It’s a joyful glimpse of the artist’s creative process and a reminder that she’s still very much in her element, according to CNN.
This new release marks Rihanna’s first single since 2022’s Lift Me Up, which earned an Oscar nomination for its role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The Smurfs movie centres on Smurfette leading her friends on a daring mission into the real world. Their goal?
To rescue Papa Smurf, voiced by John Goodman, who evil wizards have mysteriously kidnapped.

The film boasts a star-studded voice cast including James Corden, Nick Offerman, Dan Levy, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, and Octavia Spencer.
The singer is also in the spotlight for her personal life, as she is expecting her third child with partner A$AP Rocky.
Despite her busy schedule, Rihanna has kept her creative flame burning.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year, Rihanna shared her excitement about her upcoming ninth studio album.
“I just cracked the code on what I want to do for my next body of work,” she said. “I am feeling really good about this.

It feels like it digs right into where I need to be, and I want this. This body needs to come out, and I’m ready to go there.”
While she didn’t reveal exactly when the album will drop, her words offer hope to fans eager for a full collection of new songs. For now, Friend of Minewill serve as a delicious preview of what’s to come.
