After years of taking a break from music, twins Andrew and Brian Chaplin of the electro-pop group Locnville have made a “comeback.” However, South Africans have harshly critiqued their performance over the weekend.
The siblings first hit the music scene in 2010 with their viral hit Sun in My Pocket.
Interestingly, the brothers are related to the late actor Charlie Chaplin, who was their grandfather’s first cousin.
LOCNVILLE PERFORMANCE: FIRE OR GIVING FLAMES?
Over the weekend, Locnville made an appearance at Pietermaritzburg Cascades Lifestyle Mall’s Music in the Park event.
In clips posted on social media, the duo performed a selection of the hit singles.
However, the venue appeared empty, and the crowd was far from impressed. Neither were social media users who left less than flattering remarks about the aging pop stars.

@sunflower:“That over 30 slump hits hard!”
@smokeshow: “It’s giving grade 8 disco.”
@mia:“Is this in someone’s garage?
@aprilshowers: “Me and my work bestie doing the same job with minimal effort”
@vleispyp: “Are there more than ten people there?”
@meganstormradyn: “Locnville disappeared and came back dressed as dads.”
@stanleymaoanje: “Still milking the same song 20 years later.”
WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN UP TO?
Although they have an impressive discography and have played at gigs around the world, Locnville has seemingly vanished off the music scene in recent years.
Andrew Chaplin has renamed himself DJ Enga and has become a music DJ, while Brian co-manages their artist management company, GBGSV Entertainment.
At one point, both brothers had settled down, and Andrew had two children with his wife. Meanwhile, Brian is divorced from his long-term partner.
Speaking to vlogger Tyrone Buys, the Locnville siblings said that their live performances dried up in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Andrew said: “We ended up putting our feelers out into digital finance, so we do a lot of work in the crypto space, in the software department.”
