Rachel Kolisi – the estranged wife of Springbok captain Siya Kolisi – has joked about her challenging 2024 and how she hopes that the New Year will bring her the opposite of what she has experienced.
The mother-of-two announced her shocking split from her husband of eight years in October.
The couple have been together since 2012.
RACHEL KOLISI ON CHALLENGING 2024
On her Instagram Stories, Rachel Kolisi reposted a popular meme.
It read: “Me calling God to make sure I’m registered for the ‘Blessed & Highly Favoured’ starter pack for 2025 and not the ‘Trials and Tribulations’ subscription I got for 2024.”
Rachel jokingly added a laughing face emoji and a red pushpin emoji to it.
Rachel and Siya’s divorce news in October no doubt shocked South Africans and rugby fans around the world. While the couple appeared united throughout 2024 – at least on social media – the writing was on the wall that all was not well in their marriage.
In Siya’s 2023 documentary Rise, based on his autobiography of the same name, the Springbok captain spoke about the side nobody knew – his heavy drinking an partying, frequenting strip clubs, and reckless spending. There was also mention that he was “fooling around with women.”
In a clip, Rachel added: “It’s like there were two other people. It was Siya, and then there was a horrible Siya. I was ready for a divorce. I was done, done, done.”
FIRST CHRISTMAS WITHOUT SIYA?
Meanwhile, Rachel Kolisi, her two children, and Siya’s sister Liyema are planning a vacation in Australia.
Like they did last December, the family spent the holidays in another country.
However, this time, with Rachel and Siya’s separation, it is unclear if the former couple will unite for the holidays.
Siya is also still bound to his KwaZulu-Natal club, the Sharks, who will play three back-to-back games this month against Leicester, the Bulls, and the Stormers on 14, 21, and 28 December.
Siya is currently living alone in his Ballito home, while Rachel and the rest of the family are settled in Cape Town.
