Music producer and artist KG Smallz is raising eyebrows in the industry after calling out Gqom duo CampMasters for allegedly lifting elements from his viral track Umphefumulo Wam.

The song, which features Beekay Monalayzzar, has been making serious waves online, racking up over a million TikTok videos and becoming something of a global anthem.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the Yes God hitmaker, whose real name is Khotso Potsane, claimed the CampMasters’ latest release Umthandazo, featuring DJ Tira, borrows heavily from his original work.

CampMasters took the melody and used it because the song was making rounds before I dropped it. CampMasters chopped the song and used its melody on their song Umthandazo featuring DJ Tira,” he alleged.

KG Smallz explained that this isn’t the first time he’s encountered such an issue.

“A month ago I experienced the same challenge from hip-hop artist Yanga Chief when he dropped his song What If, where he used Umphefumulo Wam melodies without my permission,” he added.

Despite the accusations, KG Smallz confirmed he hasn’t reached out to any of the artists involved to discuss the matter.
