In an unseen clip from the 2023 Rugby World Cup celebrations, South-African-born Charlene Wittstock – now known as Charlene, Princess of Monaco – praises Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus as the “best in the world.”
The video was recorded in the locker rooms after the Boks beat New Zealand’s All Blacks 12-11 in France.
The victory marked SA’s fourth World Cup title win and second consecutive under Rassie.
Last week, the beloved rugby star was “snubbed” by World Rugby’s Coach of the Year Award.
PRINCESS CHARLENE PRAISES RASSIE ERASMUS
In a clip posted by Rugby365, the Springboks are seen celebrating their 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
Booze flowed while the merry players sang and danced in unison. Even Rassie Erasmus was seen downing a beer.
Also spotted in the locker rooms were Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco, who congratulated the team.
Charlene – a retired Olympic swimmer who grew up in Durban – said of the 52-year-old: “This man over here, this coach, he is the greatest of all time.”
HEALING FROM RECENT OPERATION
Meanwhile, Rassie Erasmus is in recovery after recently undergoing a shoulder operation.
According to Planet Rugby, the Springboks coach’s “old rugby injury” prevented him from warming up with players on the pitch.
The publication reveals that Rassie dislocated his shoulder several times as a former Springbok, who played until his retirement in 2003.
The father-of-three will take a long and well-deserved break after wrapping up the 2024 test series. In July 2025, the Springboks will reunite to play their first game of the year against Italy.
