The fit and healthy Monnapule Saleng hasn’t featured for Orlando Pirates since coming off the bench on November 5.
Saleng’s absence remains mysterious, the Buccaneers putting it down to ‘personal issues’, which many believe to be false, and rather between club and player.
The 26-year-old’s agent, Karabo Tshabuse, refused to leak any news regarding the winger’s future at Orlando Pirates, saying, “I’m not in a position to comment on anything regarding my client at the moment,
“Unfortunately, I’m not giving commentary on enquiries.”
This insinuates there to be little progress in getting the former Moroka Swallows man back on the pitch amid Orlando Pirates best chance for the PSL title in years.
Along with two goals in the MTN8 Cup, including his equaliser in the final, Saleng started the season in prolific fashion, scoring a goal in each of his first two league games, but only featured once more in a sixteen-minute cameo against Richards Bay FC.
Jose Riveiro will be missing the forwards talents, a player able to soccer a goal out of nothing.
Saleng exit imminent?
An inside source close to Orlando Pirates believes Saleng will remain in Soweto, saying, “who is saying that [Saleng will leave]?,” SoccerLaduma question.
“There is no such thing and he remains a Orlando Pirates player. He would have been released in January if that was the case, but that didn’t happen because he is still in the club’s plans,
“You can see that there is space for him in the like when [Mohau] Nkota didn’t have a great game in the derby, he [Saleng] would have been an option to replace him had he been available, but he was not in the matchday squad. He will be back.”
Should Orlando Pirates sell Saleng?
