Orlando Pirates suffered a defeat against SuperSport United in the DStv Diski Challenge while Stellenbosch FC brushed aside Marumo Gallants.
The Buccaneers dropped points after losing 3-2 against SuperSport at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday. Before the defeat against Matsatsantsa, Pirates claimed a 3-0 victory over Chippa United last weekend.
Pirates are occupying the fifth spot with 15 points in the PSL reserve league after winning four games, drawing three while losing twice in eight matches played thus far.
In another match on Saturday, Stellenbosch beat Marumo Gallants 1-0 at CUT Stadium in Bloemfontein. The win over Gallants saw Stellies maintain their position at the summit of the log standings with 20 points.
The Maroons are looking to defend the league title in the DDC after winning the trophy last season following an impressive run of form. In the current campaign, Stellenbosch have won six games in the league, drew two and lost only once in nine outings.
After proving to be one of the top teams in the reserve league, Stellenbosch have promoted several youngsters to the senior team in the past few years.
GOLDEN ARROWS SECURE IMPRESSIVE WIN AGAINST MAGESI FC
