Orlando Piratesmidfielder Thalente Mbatha has broken his silence on recent allegations labelling him a ‘bad boy’ on social media.

Mbatha has missed the last two games in all competitions for Pirates but has not stayed out of the news.

Mbatha has been out injured

The lanky midfielder picked up an injury that saw him come off in Pirates’ 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United. The player then missed matches against Mamelodi Sundowns, a 4-1 loss in the Betway Premiership, and the 3-0 Nedbank Cup win over Baroka FC. This injury was also rumoured to take him out of contention until the end of the season. But that has proven not to be the case as Mbatha is back in contention for the game against Golden Arrows tomorrow evening.

Furthermore, the player seemed to be embroiled in allegations of rocking up to training drunk. According to FARPost, Mbatha took to instagram to debunk this theory, hinting at his availability for Pirates tomorrow.

Breaks silence of drinking rumours at Pirates training

“They said I’m not training, you listen to everything, and I just came back from training. People can say whatever about me, but I’m coming from training. You guys will see me tomorrow [against Golden Arrows]. I guess the person who said this knows better; maybe he’s the one who hired me, or he owns the club. You see when you’re doing well, people will always want to do things to bring you down. What I say, guys is that I’m from training, and in the past matches, I was injured; even the team did say that I was injured. I’m fit for tomorrow; if they put me in the team, then I’m playing.” Mbatha said whole on Instagram live giving clarity to the Pirates fans.

This will be music to the ears of the Pirates fans, with the club already dealing with the Monnapule Salengsaga. Buccaneers are you happy that there are no disciplinary issues with Mbatha? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below!
