CAPE TOWN ANNOUNCES WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTIONS

The metro municipality said planned maintenance work, including pipe and valve installations, repairs, and replacements, would result in water supply disruption to these areas:

Martinville, Benetownship, Roundby, Kalamunda – The water supply to these areas will be shut off from 09:00 until 17:00 on Tuesday, 4 February 2025. This will allow for the installation of a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) on the main water supply to these areas.

Parts of Salt River – The water supply to parts of Salt River will also be shut off from 9:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 4 February.

Shelley Road from Main Road to Dryden Street and Cecil Road from Swift Road to Dryden Road, including Dryden Primary School, and the immediate surrounding streets may also be affected. The City of Cape Town said a water tanker will be parked at Dryden Street Primary School.

This will allow for the installation of a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) with possible pressure fluctuations in the areas mentioned above.

Ndabeni – The water supply to Ndabeni will be shut off from 09:00 until 17:00 on Thursday, 6 February 2025,with possible pressure fluctuations in Maitland, Salt River, Paarden Eiland and Kensington. This will allow for the installation of a pressure reducing valve (PRV) on the water supply main to these areas. The previous attempt in this regard was unsuccessful as further valve maintenance on the network was required.

Strand – The water supply to the Strand area will be shut off from 8:00 until 17:00 on Thursday, 6 February, to allow the maintenance team to install the valves to connect the temporary pipelines to water mains in Munnik Street and Joubert Street in Strand.

“This is the third and final phase of the pipe replacement project in this area. The whole of Strand will be affected,” the City of Cape Town said.
