Orlando Pirates transfers: Basadien, Appollis, Moeneeb’s advice

Orlando Pirates face stiff competition from Kaizer Chiefs for a top target. Meanwhile, Moeneeb Josephs has some advice for the board.

Chiefs and Pirates to battle for Basadien

28-year-old Fawaaz Basadien is one of the steadiest full-backs in South Africa. No wonder two of the big three clubs are taking a closer look.

“Chiefs interest was serious, but there was no agreement reached between the two clubs. Now it looks like Pirates are coming in strong for him. Don’t be surprised to see him join them when the season ends, but you never know in football because things change very quickly, and other clubs might come knocking as well,” a Citizen source added.

Josephs advises the Orlando Pirates board

According to former Bafana and Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs, the Sea Robbers should prioritise moves for Stellenbosch left-back Fawaaz Basadien and Polokwane City’s winger Oswin Appollis.

“If you look at Appollis and Basadien, I think they can be quality signings for Orlando Pirates, which is competing on the African continent [CAF Champions League],” Josephs said on the Soccer Beatpodcast, as quoted by FARPost.
