Orlando Pirates cannot keep and satisfy every talented player, and supporters have to accept that. Is Karim Kimvuidisaying goodbye to the Sea Robbers?
KARIM KIMVUIDI IN SOUTH AFRICA
Starting lineups and even substitute appearances have been scares for the young Congolese star. Kimvuidi arrived at Maritzburg United in 2021 as a shy 19-year-old. Coach Ernst Middendorp trained him for over six months before Kimvuidi finally secured a work permit. Kimvuidi, with his wonderful touch and elegance on the ball, dazzled Maritzburg United’s fans for two seasons before the big clubs came calling. Orlando Pirates won the race in July 2023.
With 18 months spent at the Sea Robbers, the former DC Motema Pembe star has only made five starts in black and white. As an attacking midfielder, Kimvuidi is competing with Patrick Maswanganyi, Kabelo Dlamini and most recently, Thuso Moleleki and Azola Tshobeni, who have both overtaken the 22-year-old Congolese in the pecking order.
LEAVING ORLANDO PIRATES FOR AFRICA?
According to Soccer Laduma, the Orlando Pirates midfielder is likely to join a new club on the continent, rather than a local loan move. “While sources have indicated to the Siya crew that interest has been mounting from clubs back home in the Congolese, the attack-minded player has also been linked with clubs in North Africa and elsewhere on the continent,” a source told the outlet.
