Orlando Pirates have suffered a long-term injury blow after midfielder Selaelo Rasebotja was forced to undergo surgery.

On Thursday, Rasebotja took to Instagram to let his fans know of his torn Anterio Cruciate Ligament (ACL).

And this was after he had gone under the knives, meaning he won’t play part in any of the remaining Pirates games.

According to studies, a torn ACL can take between six months and nine months, meaning Rasebotja may only return in 2026.

Rasebotja has featured sparingly for the Buccaneers since his arrival from SuperSport United at the start of the season.

The 24-year-old has made just 11 appearances across all competitions; the majority of which was from the bench.

“Definitely not the way I would have liked to finish the season. But God’s will always prevails and surely this too shall pass,” wrote Rasebotja on his Instagram post.

“Devastated to have torn my ACL but I’m immensely grateful for a very successful surgery. Now, it’s time to rest, recoup, and prepare myself for rehabilitation.

“Thank you all for well wishes and kind messages. I appreciate you all,” he concluded.

WILL THIS HAVE AN IMPACT ON HIS FUTURE?
