Orlando Pirates send foreign international back to Angolan giants

Orlando Pirates have announced the departure of attacker Gilberto to Angolan giants Petro de Luanda on loan.

In a statement released on Friday, Pirates confirmed that Gilberto will spend the remainder of the season out on loan.

However, his return to Petro de Luanda is subject to a compulsory medical tests, the club said.

Gilberto arrived at Pirates with high expectations at the start of the season but he has struggled to settled.

The 23-year-old attacker featured in just 12 matches across all competitions without finding the back of the net for the Buccaneers this season.

And that is five league appearances, four in the CAF Champions League, two in the MTN8 and a single Carling Knockout Cup appearance.

ORLANDO PIRATES LOAN OUT GILBERTO

“Orlando Pirates has reached an agreement for the loan transfer of Angolan international Gilberto to Petro de Luanda for the remainder of the season,” reads the statement.

“The move sees Gilberto return to his hometown club, pending the successful completion of a medical.”
