Orlando Pirates rising star shines as the Buccaneers soar to the top.

Pirates’ youth coaches have earned praise for nurturing young talents like Mohau Nkota, who has made a significant impact under head coach Jose Riveiro this season. Since earning a spot in the first team, Nkota has showcased his skills in four matches across all competitions, consistently delivering impressive performances.

In a thrilling encounter against AmaZulu FC, Nkota emerged as the standout player, scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory at Orlando Stadium. His remarkable performance not only helped the Buccaneers climb to the top of the Betway Premiership standings but also highlighted the potential of this 19-year-old star. Relebohile Mofokeng assisted Nkota on both goals, emphasising the strong teamwork within the squad.

Legend celebrates Nkota’s journey

Ex-Pirates striker James Mothibi, who has closely followed Nkota’s career, expressed his admiration for the young talent.  “On Friday, I went to watch the game between Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu, and what an electrifying game it was. I am so happy for Mohau Nkota and the progress he has made to be where he is. Mohau is a boy from Kimberly, and I always speak to him to offer advice. I have been in contact with him since he was very young when he arrived at Pirates for the club’s juniors,” as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

Mothibi emphasised the significance of Nkota’s success, stating, “What the boy is doing now will serve as motivation to the other boys from the Northern Cape to work hard, knowing that anything is possible when one of their own is making use of the opportunity he is getting at a big club like Pirates.”

Supporting future stars from the Northern Cape

Mothibi’s commitment extends beyond Nkota. He actively guides other young players from the Northern Cape, including Ethan Visagie at Pirates, Raymond Daniels at Polokwane City, and others. “I have been talking to them and guiding them about the culture of the club, emphasising the importance of being respectful,” Mothibi noted.

He also acknowledged the foundational role of local clubs and coaches, saying, “We must say thank you to Jomo Bonokwane from Kimberly Dalton Brothers FC, where Mohau comes from. We must also thank Mxolisi Mngomezulu and the development coaches at Pirates for the great work they are doing in developing these young players for the Bucs first team. We have to give credit where it is due.”

With Mohau Nkota leading the charge, Pirates can look forward to a promising season. His rise not only showcases individual talent but also highlights the critical role of development programs in shaping future stars. As Nkota continues to excel, he sets a powerful example for aspiring footballers everywhere.
