Orlando Pirates star Patrick Maswanganyi has been linked with a move abroad this transfer window.
Maswanganyi has wrestled back his form after a slow start, becoming key to the recent success of Pirates.
Pirates recently beat Al Ahly 2-1 in Cairo, to ensure that they finish top of their CAF Champions Leaguegroup. They’re also currently second on the Betway Premiership log, trailing defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns by six points. A part from that, they already have silverware having won the MTN8 title last year. Maswanganyi can rightfully claim he has had an influence in all of that.
Pirates denied Maswanganyi Oliveirense links
Of course, there was a patch where he was off form and fans started to voice their frustration on his play. There was also a time where he was dropped by coach Jose Riveiro. The coach did come out to explain his absence was due to health issues. Either way, his former side in Portugal were reportedly still watching his progress. There were rumours they were quoted R40 million for his services. In the end, Pirates released a statement claiming no truth to Maswanganyi’s links to Oliveirense.

But it now looks as if Maswanganyi will be joining a new team, this without leaving Pirates, however. According to the playmaker, he has now joined Pumas as his new boot sponsor, leaving team Adidas!
