Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng hasn’t kicked a ball since early November.
His absence remains a mystery, but many believe it goes beyond the club’s official explanation of ‘personal issues.’
To the dismay of Pirates fans, the 26-year-old did not feature in last weekend’s Soweto derby – a fixture he dominated, scoring a brace in the Buccaneers 3-2 victory.
A source close to SoccerLaduma believes Orlando Pirates will have their star man back soon, saying, “Who is saying that [Saleng will leave]?”
“There is no such thing and he remains a Orlando Pirates player. He would have been released in January if that was the case, but that didn’t happen because he is still in the club’s plans,
“You can see that there is space for him in the like when [Mohau] Nkota didn’t have a great game in the derby, he [Saleng] would have been an option to replace him had he been available, but he was not in the matchday squad. He will be back.”
Maswanganyi to Europe?
It’s no longer just about an inquiry, it’s about negotiations now,” a Siya source confirmed UD Oliveirense’s interest in Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi.
“They really want him back in Portugal. They are looking at the progress he has made and they are happy to bring him back to Portugal. It will all depend on what Pirates are looking at or if UD Oliveirense can afford what Pirates will be asking for Maswanganyi.”
“The only issue that is there now is the R40 million that the club has put on Maswanganyi’s head. You know he is one of the best players now in the country and if the club wants that amount then UD Oliveirense should meet or make it even better than that. But since they are believed to have opened up negotiations then it will all depend on their offer that they table to Pirates.”
