Orlando Pirates fans get BIG Monnapule Saleng CLUE

Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng seems back in the swing of things following four months of exile – fans still don’t know whether he’s staying or leaving.

The 27-year-old, albeit spotted in several training sessions this month, is yet to make a match-day squad, last featuring on December 7 in the Buccaneers Champions League clash against Al Ahly.

Having been in hibernation for so long, Saleng’s inability to register first-team minutes this year isn’t surprising as the Bloemhof native returns to match fitness. With him back in training, there’s a good chance Orlando Pirates have him playing before the end of the season.

New coach inbound?

Jose Riveiro’s departure has Orlando Pirates scrambling for his successor. According to reports, they’ve shortlisted Pitso Mosimane as their priority replacement.

“There are a few coaches to be considered for different reasons, but apparently it’s believed that Pitso [Mosimane] is their preferred candidate,” a source revealed.

“It’s believed that he is their first priority at the moment. That’s what the team wants as things stand. Even if they have not spoken to him (behind the scenes) yet, he is their first priority.

“They are saying if they (Pirates) managed to work with Jose Riveiro for three years, then why can’t they go for a coach like Pitso? So, they know what they are looking for, and they know quality doesn’t come cheap,” the source added.

“But as you know, although he is their first priority, he is not the only one they are looking at. As I said, there are different factors they are looking at.”
