Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah’s injury update revealed as we move towards Christmas.
Pirates fans were left worried when the club announced Ndah’s injury in October, just as the Nigerian defender was hitting top form. Ndah had been a crucial part of the Pirates’ defence alongside Thabiso Sesane, and his early-season performances had raised hopes for the Buccaneers. With the news of his injury, supporters feared his time on the sidelines would extend well into the season.
How Ndah was dominating for Pirates
Olisa Ndah started the season strong, playing regularly and earning praise for his defensive work. With nine appearances across all competitions, the 26-year-old was quickly becoming a key player. His standout moment came when he scored his first goal for the club in the MTN8, a tournament the Pirates went on to successfully defend.
Unfortunately, Ndah’s momentum was cut short when he suffered an injury in September during a match against Polokwane City. After a tough aerial challenge, the towering defender landed awkwardly and was unable to continue the game. Initially, there were fears that the injury might be a serious leg break. Pirates fans held their breath, concerned that Ndah’s absence would stretch far beyond the immediate future.
Ndah’s return is Imminent
Despite the severity of the injury, there is now optimism surrounding Ndah’s recovery. A source close to the club confirmed, “It’s been several weeks that he has been out, and there has been progress made along the way. It would have been worse if there was a leg break or something like that but fortunately, it didn’t get to that. He should be back early next year, probably late in January or early in February, around there.”
The defender’s recovery is progressing well, and fans can expect to see him return to action sooner than initially anticipated.
Pirates defence in good hands
Nkosinathi Sibisi has stepped up to the plate, partnering with Sesane and delivering solid performances. The Pirates’ defense has remained strong, even as the team navigates the loss of one of their top players. Additionally, the return of Tapelo Xoki, who has battled a long injury layoff, has provided further strength to the defensive unit. While Xoki is still working on his fitness, his presence adds depth to Jose Riveiro’s squad.
Orlando Pirates supporters can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Olisa Ndah’s recovery is progressing as hoped. With the defender expected to return by early 2025.
