Jose Riveiro commends on the Bafana Bafana job

When asked about the possibility of coaching a national team, Riveiro said that could happen.

“You never know, right now my focus is 100% on the responsibility that I have, trust me, I have enough,” he responded.

“Usually, national teams used to be coaches with more experience, more kilometres in this job, but it’s also changing right now, you can see some young coaches, coaching top national teams around the world.”

Riveiro has had upto eight Orlando Pirates players called to the Bafana Bafana squad in the past months. During his tenure, the likes of Patrick Maswanaganyi, Relebohile Mofokeng, Thapelo Xoki, Thalente Mbatha and Sipho Chaine all earned their first Bafana caps this year.

If he happens to take over from Hugo Broos, he might end up working with his players once more.

“Who knows? I like coaching and right now I like to do what I am doing at Orlando Pirates, to do my best when I am invited to do the same in this space, I don’t think much about what is going to happen in the future,” Riveiro said as per GOAL.

Riveiro is not the only coach to be linked to the Bafana Bafana job, earlier this year ex-Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena was also tipped to succeed Broos.

Should Riveiro be the next coach for the national team?
