Nota Baloyi says he worked on Mlindo The Vocalist’s debut album
Controversial podcaster Nota Baloyi has sparked fresh debate online after claiming he helped shape Emakhaya, the debut album by Mlindo The Vocalist.
The 2018 project, which features the chart-topping hit AmaBlesser, is currently making headlines as it’s poised to become the most-streamed South African solo album of the 2010s on Spotify, overtaking Nasty C’s Strings and Bling.
As the milestone began trending, Nota chimed in on X (formerly Twitter) to make an unexpected revelation.
“I did some work on that Mlindo album, co-wrote & arranged the lead single. I’m looking forward to playing a part in setting another record!”
While AmaBlesser is officially credited to DJ Maphorisa for production and vocals, and features names like Sjava, Kwesta, and Thabsie across the album, Nota’s name is nowhere to be found in the album credits.
His sudden claim has left many South Africans skeptical.
Social media users wasted no time poking holes in the story, with some accusing Nota of trying to ride the wave of Mlindo’s success.
Others questioned whether he might’ve contributed behind the scenes as a ghostwriter, or if it’s simply another one of his infamous online rants.
Either way, his tweet stirred up heated reactions, with one user calling him “delusional” and another asking, “Where’s the proof?”
