Controversial businessman Edwin Sodi is once again making headlines, this time for financial troubles that have landed him in court.

Nedbank has taken legal action to recover a staggering R570,248 from Sodi, citing unpaid credit card debt and an overdrawn facility.

Court documents filed at the Johannesburg High Court on March 25, 2025, reveal that the bank is seeking a writ of execution to seize his assets in an effort to reclaim the funds.

Despite several written demands, Nedbank claims Sodi has failed to settle the debt, which had accumulated by August 26, 2024.

Sodi’s finances have come under growing public scrutiny, particularly given his taste for the finer things in life.

In 2023, he reportedly splurged R18,000 a night at a luxurious hotel in London and dropped R40,000 at designer label Louis Vuitton.

This case is just the latest addition to Sodi’s mounting legal woes, as he continues to battle several other high-profile court cases.
