Three full years after the death of Riky Rick, who had become one of Mzansi’s biggest and most popular artists, his post-humous album is set to drop, however, Mzansi couldn’t help but notice the feature selection on some of the songs.

Prior to his death in February 2022, Riky Rick had become one of Mzansi’s biggest, most versatile and stylish artists to come out of South Africa. His career was characterised by a range of different eras, tapping into various sounds and styles and dabbling in different avenues such as fashion and brand management.

As a member of the popular Boyz N Buckz group, which included the likes of Cassper Nyovest and Stilo Magolide, Riky Rick’s music consistently remained at the top of the charts as he gained notoriety for his unique and infectious sound. He then went on to establish his own record label and named it Cotton Club Records which has signed approximately 80 artists. In his short life and time in the industry, Riky emerged as a pioneer who prioritised and constantly empowered the youth.

Taking to their Instagram, Riky’s widow Bianca Naidoo, as well as Sony Music, announced that they would be honouring the rapper’s motto ‘we never die, we multiply’ with a post-humous album dedicated to his legacy that is on the way and is set to drop this April.

Although the news was met with great excitement and anticipation, after taking a more in-depth look at the tracklist that Sony and Bianca revealed, some fans and internet users revealed that they were a bit skeptical about who was chosen to feature in which song. According to these users, the fact that Ricky expressed his wishes in regard to features on some of his songs and has been ignored by the record label and his family was troubling. Furthermore, these users believe that this is doing the opposite of honouring his memory

Furthermore, some users expressed that the noticeable absence of features from the likes of OKMALUMKOOLKAT or anyone from Boyz N Buckz was strange as these were artists that Riky worked closely with and held dear to his heart. These users wonder whether there is more lore to this story, or rather a result of poor decision making on the part of whoever was in charge.

After some deliberation though it appears ‘Cishe ngaposta’ has emerged as a fan favourite as users reveal that they cannot wait to hear the full version of the song after Riky dropped a snippet that went extremely viral while he was alive.
